Hi. We're Dani and Yousef.
We built TreatQuest because we kept walking past places we'd never been into, on the way to the same three places we always go to. Or worse, walking past places we kept saying we'd try until they were closed. That felt like a missed opportunity, and also a bit sad.
So we made an app that nudges you off the route you already know.
The walking bit
Here's the deal. You don't get to post about a place until your feet have actually been there. No reposting a friend's flat white. No location tagging from your sofa. The post button is gated by a pedometer and you physically walking the route.
It sounds slightly mad until you realise everyone has been doing the boring version of this for years. We just wanted credit for the steps.
The places bit
We love independent places. The hole-in-the-wall book bar that does evening readings. The sourdough bakery that is a converted front room. The surprising little Bavarian bar with fondue and wheat beer. The little café that shifts into an espresso martini bar at night and pours out onto the street.
Not because chains are evil. They are fine. But the interesting spot two streets away from your usual one is doing brilliant work, deserves a queue, and those places can easily get buried in algorithms, ads, unaffordable rent, and just a plain old lack of visibility.
The us bit
We met at a bar. One of us was a regular. The other had wandered in for the first time. Which, looking back, seems on-brand.
That night turned into a relationship. The relationship turned into TreatQuest. Ten months of silly questions, pep talks, late-night breaking of things, quiet salvaging of them, and more "should we just give up" moments than we can count later, here we are. We've built something we're really proud of. We hope it delights you too.
The hope bit
The version of our city we want to live in has a corner café where everyone on your road knows the owner by name, a bookshop you accidentally spend an hour in, and a pub where the landlord remembers your last drink. A community that supports each other. That city, that neighbourhood, that town is still out there. It's not gone, just undiscovered. It's just sometimes down a street you haven't stumbled across yet.
So, come for a wander, join us for a quest, and discover somewhere new to fall in love with just steps away.

TL;DR
Walk to the good stuff. Help it stay open. Have a lovely time.
What we believe
- Community happens in real places. Not on a leaderboard, not in a feed. In the room, with the people in it.
- Independent places are why a neighbourhood feels like a neighbourhood. When one closes, a bit of that goes with it.
- Movement is the most honest signal a human leaves. Likes are good. Steps are better. So we built around the steps.
- Your data is yours. We share aggregated, anonymised numbers with the spots you visit. Nothing personal, ever.
- AI helps us build. It isn't the point. The walking is the point. The spots are the point. The community is the point.
